Little Bird Tales

I am evaluating the website, Little Bird Tales.

The url is http://littlebirdtales.com/

Little Bird Tales is a website that inspired children's creativity and imagination. This is a website than can be used to record a child's voice talking about a certain topic and various pictures that pertain to this topic. This a website that was created by parents who were hoping to foster their children's creativity and imagination in one place.

To use this website, you simply create or upload your artwork on the website, record your voice and add sound and text to each page, and then you can complete this by sending your "story" to friends and family.

I think this would be a great tool to use for the lower grades in elementary school (K-3), because they might still struggle with writing, so instead, they could draw pictures of what they were learning about, and then simply give a report.

For my groups' topic, we are focusing on The Solar System. I think this would be great, if our students had to give some sort of report on a certain planet, they could draw the planet, and then instead of having to write sentences on the planet, they could instead record their thoughts on the planet.

Some of the other tools I have enjoyed using in CAT 250 are twitter and survey monkey. I didn't have a twitter until this class, and did not realize how cool this social media tool is. I always thought it seemed silly, but this would be a great tool to have as a teacher, you could simply tweet, "Study for tomorrow's quiz" and have your parents or students (if you had middle or high school) follow you and see these tweets. I also love survey monkey. I think this would be great to use to get parents' input on what is going on in your classroom, or if their child is happy or not in your class. You could send out monthly surveys just to see everyone's opinion.
